cold start problem 200

Hello,

I have a 89 240DL Wagon.. I have a small problem.

in morning (only) first start car will often fail to start on first attempt.

usually it will start on second try (occassionally with a small backfire) .. after this it will idle and run fine... starting car after this later in day (sat as long as 6hrs) will not have problem with starting ...only first start of day.

any thoughts?
