Transmission Kick Down Cable - What a pain in the a$$

Took a good 5 hours - everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Getting the cable end on the kickdown wheel is a serious - gotta use bad words - kind of job.

What is the deal with the crimp on ferrule. What is the rule of thumb for installation. Should I do it after I know the cable is tensioned correctly ?
