New Stereo - What Do I Connect the Ignition Wire To? 200 1979

I'm putting in a new stereo and can't find a wire to connect the red/ignition wire to.
Old Volvo stereo had a red/ignition wire but it wasn't connected to anything.
Spoke to a guy in a stereo shop and he says I need to connect the red wire to one of the ignition wires, but I've no idea which one.
I'm connected to the battery ok because I've got power enough to eject a CD from the new one but apparently I need to connect the ignition wire for the display stuff to work.
Anyone got any ideas?
