which one is the hot wire? 120-130

Hi,
I finally got my car back on the road! New B20E running and purring, megasquirt, all the good stuff to fight the climbing gas price: in european language, mileage went down from 12liters/100 kms (B20B) to less than 9!!

At this point I must first say thanks to all of you who helped me getting through my projectas smoothly as posible. A very special thanks to Sil on this board who acted as a shipping agent for some stuff I got in the US and gave me for the price of the shipping the injectors holders I was missing!! Bob, if you read this: thanx a LOT!!

Now there is one issue I need to fix at this point: when installing the megasquirt, I had to run a few wires from the ignition and I found some strange behaviours.

Here is a description of my ignition swich:
terminal 1 (drivers'side) has one thick red wire attached plus one to a relay that powers megasquirt when the ignition is on (switched 12V)and one to the cigarette lighter
terminal 2 (top of the switch) is emty (the starter motor is activated by a separate switch)
terminal 3 (passenger's side) has 2 original thick black wires plus one to the starter's switch and one to the megasquirt relay

The switch is OK: with all wires off, resistance between terminal 1 and 3 is 0 when the switch is on and infinite when it's off; No problem here!

Now whith the wires attached, there are some odd things going on: even with the ign off, I can activate the starter, meaning that terminal 3 is actually powered, although megasquirt is off as well as all the gauges, fan, wipers, etc: but all these are hooked on 3. Also, whith the ign off, there is no power to the cigarette lighter, which means that terminal 1 has no power.

I have checked the resistance between the red and black wires: between one of the black wires and the red one, there's a growing resistance taht starts at around 2 kohms or so and grows up and up without reaching infinite (at least not before my arms got tired of holding the probe...); I thinks all this this is not normal... I expected the red wire to be the hot one, bringing +12V to the switch (as well as the cig lighter and to my megasquirt switched 12V relay), and that terminals 2 and 3 of the switch would only be powered through the ign switch: then no starter without ign on "ON", no activation of my megasquirt relay, etc... It now looks like the hot wire is one of the 2 black ones, but then only for the starter... Other symptoms include my AMP light that lights when most of the instruments are activated (wipers, fan, O/D, etc)

I knol all this might sound confused, but if it rings any bell, I'd appriciate any piece of experience that could nelp me out of this!! Thanks in advance, Séb
