My 1988 765 tic has been my pride and joy. Not in the absolute best of shape, but just truly a joy to own. It's slighty unique these days too, which is nice. I just reached 150k on the odometer. Many new mechanical parts. Basically, it's a very good car. The problems that are vexing me relate to the electrical system. many vanity/non-drive things no longer work, ie., sunroof switch, a rear window, either front electric seat, power locks, etc... What has me a little concerned is a recent episode where the car went full-on bananas as I was driving across the country. everything on the dash tripped out at the same time. Lights flashing, needles doing 360s 'round their posts, etc. it was quite exciting. Then, the problem simply went away leaving me only with the spedometer needle stuck behind the pin that keeps it from dropping past zero at idle/shut-off. That too has somehow righted itself. the other day the climate control and cig. lighter that I use daily for heat/cooling and charging the phone/running CD player died. Winter is coming and its going to be cold. I am wondering if this is common(the electrical issue not the cold...)? Can this type of "roving electrical cancer" creep into an area that will strand the car? I believe that my wagon should last for many more miles, but am concerned that it may be "losing it." There are a couple of new vehicles that I would like to own, but none comes close to the solid, rear-drive svelte soul of a 700 series wagon. I'm not skilled with automotive electrics.
