My '87 764 turbo has been making a whistling sound ever since i got her back on the road after a 3 year sit in a garage. I've already changed the injectors, distributor and spark plugs. The fuel rail is clear of any gum or obstruction. I've changed most of the vacuum lines. The timing was done recently.
I thought it was the fuel pressure regulator at first (It was leaking, seemed like it was obviously the problem). Changed it a few days ago and still the same problem. The engine runs rich, there is black smoke out of the tailpipe and a strange whistling sound.
I dont know if this related (my 764 is still recovering from 3 years in the garage) but the high end (past 3000) RPMs lack power. No problem at lower end RPMs though. The whistling also dies out once I get past about 2000RPMs.
Would really appreciate any help!
