I have two full heater cores, casings and blower motors. Ones installed (stock 67 I think) and the other was saved from another Amazon...
Only yesterday I realized that they have different blower motors. One has a fairly flat disk like outer side with three female spade connectors on it. The other is more "dome" shaped and is not presently installed. I saw someone on eBay refer to the two styles and an older and newer. From the eBay listing it looks that I have the "older" style installed in my 67 Amazon. However, the other blower motor has to be at least the same age if not older...
What I'm getting after is that the installed blower motor sucks a lot of voltage - even with a 55 Amp upgraded Alternator. It plus any other electrical system (wipers, signals, brakelights, ect) will make the amp light glow visibly. Combinations of these systems is pushing it - well, pushing it light-wise. I've never suffered battery power loss since I upgraded.
So, does the so-called newer motor suck less voltage? If not, is there any sort of upgrade I can work to improve the efficiency of the blower. Oh, did I mention that its blower.. sucks. It will barely defrost the windshield... barely and not until the cabin air gets damn hot.
