89 740gl random starting problem 700

I have an 89 740 GL that will start most of the time then at other times not. When it will not start it does turn over, but doesn't fire. i have not been able to find a pattern. The car can be cold or warm, the weather dry or wet. If it does start it runs like it always has, which is pretty good. There can be a couple week interval between starting problems, then no start, might go out the next day and it fires right up.

What about a relay going bad? and if that makes sense which one?

Any ideas will be appreciated.
