Fan noise? 900 1991

Hi,

I just bought a '91 940 turbo (B200FT) with the automatic aircon. While the car is a dream to drive (when comparing to my 92 240 D24, which I still love though)
there's one annoyance.
Widling or cruising there's a noticeable (though not disturbingly loud) fan noise (or at least I think it a fan). Thing is it goes away the moment you accelerate (btw it's not the actual blower fan, this makes a slightly diffenrent, quieter noise), and comes back when you stop accelerating (cruising). While the sound doesn't disturb me, it's the on/off thing that bothers me.
This happens with aircon on and off, fan on and off,...

Question: Is this normal behaviour? Do I have cracked vacuum hose? Am I hearing things?...
