96 960 cracked valve cover update 900 1996

The machine shop was unwilling to do the welding.

The mechanic has smoothed out the bump on the mating surface where somebody tried to lever the cover from inside with a prybar. He is going to embed some cotton thread in the crack and run in some Volvo chemical gasket compound. The exterior of the crack will again be JBWelded and the cover installed. If we still have a leak at the mating surface, we'll go ahead and clean/abrade the areas above and below and put some JBWeld there as well.

We'll see how things go. I should know something today.
