100 amp alt. to replace 80 amp alt. 200 1990

I think know the answer but want to confirm.I need to replace the alternator on my 1990 240. It is rated at 80 amps. I can get a 100 amp alt. from a 1990 740 turbo.Are these interchangeable?Any problems increasing the amps?TIA
