1995 960 Brake light mystery (help!) 900 1995

5 or 6 days ago I got the bulb failure idiot light. I didn't give it much thought at the time (i checked my low and high-beams, turn signals, fog-lights, but not the brake lights) because all the lights i could see were working when i pulled out. A day or two later i noticed when moving the car at night that the brake lights were out (the bulb failure was STILL on). I checked the FAQ, and figured it was a blown relay for the bulb failure thing (i cannot check the relay because the picture will not load on my computer and i have yet to get a response about its location). I got quite frustrated with trying to figure it out, eventually i noticed that a tail light, not brake light, had gone out. I replaced the tail light, and the bulb failure warning light went away, but the brake lights still dont work.

The logical explanation is the stop light switch, but it is buried so high up there that i cannot even test it for power. On top of that, the guy who i had look at it did not seem to get what i was telling him about there being two switches attached to the pedal, so he pulled out the Cruise control switch. I am afraid he screwed up the vaccum, because now when i press the brake pedal when it is running, there is a tiny noise that sounds just like a sucking vaccum.

Is it the stop light switch, do those go bad often, or was it the bulb which screwed up the relay some how, or is it the cruise control switch acting up since it was screwed with, considering that the tail light is now replaced and the warning light is gone?

Thanks for the help, i would like to stop having to use my single rear foglight as a brake light during emergency trips around town when i HAVE to take the car.
