85' 240DL won't start....Where do i start? 200 1985

Hey I’m not sure if you’re the person I should send a post to, but can you help me out? I’ve had my 85 240DL for about a year. It won’t start anymore. I’ve taken it to a local mechanic and worked on it a little bit but I’m really not sure whats going on. I was told it was the fuel pump(the external) so I changed that…..didn’t solve the problem. It begins to start but just won’t run. It tries but never actually starts. Someone else also told me the wiring could be the problem, I called a Volvo Specialist and he said that it sounds like an electrical problem(probably no power to the injectors) but he also told me that it would cost $1250 bucks to fix. I only paid 500 for the car but I LOVE THIS CAR SOOOOOOO MUCH……Any suggestions on where to go from here?
