Stalls and/or cuts off when breaking or sitting still at light 700

I have an 86 turbo automatic wagon with 189K. When I come to a stop, if I do not give the gas pedal a "pat" the car will turn off. Belts have only about 1/2" tension in them. I've recently replaced engine wiring harness, plugs, plug wires, MAF, air filter, and fuel pressure regulator. One interesting thing I observed today was that as I slowed to apply the final brakes for stopping, the tachometer seemed to be searching up and down between 1100 and 300 RPM with increasing "intensity" until it went below 400 RPM and the engine turned off. I even braked a few times with it in neutral gear to see it repeat the same behavior, and both times it would have cut off had I not fed it more gas. Once I give it gas, the RPMS come back up to around 750-800 with just a slight wobble between.

Any ideas on what to look at next would be appreciated. Sure would like to get this issue resolved before the cold weather arrives here in Kansas.
