headrest removal? do the newer style fit the '85 and back seats?? 200 1986

hey guys, i just picked up a set of nice cloth seats from the local boneyard for my '86 245. i switched the seats out and all is fine but i was wondering how you take the headrests off? i'd like to put my newer style ones on these older style seats so my headrest pads can go back on... is this possible without tearing the seats apart? thanks!
