kickdown cable problem 700

i just bought a used transmission (AW70) from a junkyard, everything seems good EXCEPT for the kickdown cable. the plastic piece that attaches the cable to the trans is broken and half of it is still inside the trans. is it hard to change out the kickdown cable? can i just swap it with the one i have currently? how do you even dissconnect the cable?
