My water pump seems to be leaking at its juncture with the head. I've reviewed all of the historic posts and have in mind all of the considerations of how to fix it, whether or not to put the old one back in or get a new one, Whether to tough it out and wait until my next timing belt, and all that rot (not that I've made the decisions, but at least I know the considerations).
What I'm really wondering about is, could this have been caused by an overtightened accessory belt? Heres the back story:
35,000 miles ago, I did thetiming belt (my first time doing one). I found that the accessory tensioners were all frozen, and I couldn't get the belts back on. Much to my chagrin, it was so bad, I had to have it hauled off to the shop to have the belts put on. Since shortly thereafter, my AC compressor has been making bearing noise, and seems to be angled in toward the fan pully a bit, as though the shop tightened its belt too much. So could this have put undue stress on the water pump, causing the seals to leak?
