Just got my SU carbs rebuilt by Rhys Kent and, man are they nice! Much better than that old Weber I had. Anyway, he suggested that I run the car w/o the tube running from the breather to the (don't know what to call it) metal thing that sits under the first carb as it can clog and lead to premature failure of the piston in that carb. So now the breather spits up some oil now and again.
I was wondering if I can switch to an earlier type of sealed breather. A friend of mine said that this would result in more pressure inside the motor and could lead to some gasket/seal failure, (e.g. oil leaks), but I wanted to hear from you all and your experience.
Also, do I have to have the hose running from the intake manifold to the pcv valve, (I don't have to smog my car here in the state of Nevada)?
Thanks in advance for all of your input!
