1993 Rear Suspension Question 200

I've had the rear end of the 93 wagon apart with the swaybar, panhard rod, torque rods and shocks removed. The torque rods got new bushings, and I bought new Sachs Advantage shocks. Now I'm putting things back together. The panhard rod is in place with the nuts on loosely. I have the swaybar in place. Both rear swaybar bolts have the nuts on them but not tight. The driver's side shock went on like it should. The bottom bolt is through the sway bar and all the way through the trailing arm with the spacer in place and the nut on loosely. The problem is on the passenger side. I compress the shock and place it over the top stud. When the shock extends, it should bring the lower shock mounting bushing right into place for me to slide the bolt through it. Instead the shock hits the trailing arm. It's as if the passenger-side trailing arm has move three-eighths or one-half inch toward the driver's side. The shock won't lay in straight like it should. The only parts not installed are the torque rods, but I don't see how they'd make a difference in lateral movement of the trailing arms. Any ideas, help, or suggestions would be appreciated. Should I just force the lower shock mount into place or am I missing something here?
