My 91 244 has an EGR valve. The pipe that runs from the exhaust manifold around the back of the head and to the valve broke. Rather than replacing it, I just crimped the pipe shut to alleviate the noise and leak (the break occurred right by the manifold). Am I potentially doing any damage?

Note: The car passed VT inspection with the broken pipe.
