Hello,
I bought a '90 744 and replaced its engine so I have no history on it. After I got the engine working we noticed squishy brakes. I assumed bleeding would fix it. I built a pressure bleeder with some parts from a hardware store and a canning bottle. I was going around the car in the bleeding order for without ABS. I only got to the right rear and removed the brake pads for inspection. The inner pad and rotor are worn at an angle. The outer pad doesn't have much wear. It seems like the rotor and pads need to be replaced. Below are links to pictures of both pads for comparison. What could have caused the abnormal wear of the pad? Will replacing the rotor just result in the new rotor wearing quickly? Could my squishy brakes have been caused by this? What can I do to figure out why it was wearing like this?
Would it be ok to replace these pads and drive the car while waiting for a replacement rotor?
Also, is it obvious when a car has ABS? Maybe its hard for me cause none of my 700s have had ABS. Is there extra hardware besides the brake line that goes to each caliper?
Thanks,
Nathan
