The FAQ says for the hubs to be shiny clean where the new rotor contacts the hub. I'm afraid of taking off too much metal. The FAQ suggests a wire cup brush. I couldn't figure out how a wire cup brush could get the inner part of the hub up next to the bolts, so instead I got a copper wire brush and went at it with that. I'm wondering if I did a good enough job.
Would a dremel work well on this? I have a grinding wheel attachment. I also could try sandpaper. To me the surface seems fine. There definitely is not any rust chunks of any sort. Only some residual 'dirty' areas. Whatever is there does not come off with brake cleaner.
