Cleaned IAC, now car dies on hard braking--connection? 900 1993

Hi All,

My '93 944T was experiencing a jumpy idle on cold (as in after sitting all night) starts which I appear to have solved by cleaning the IAC as described in the FAQ. However, now a new problem has appeared: when the engine is warm, moderate to hard braking from 35mph and up or so will cause the idle to drop to zero.

I've read the relevant section in the FAQ pinning it on a bad check valve in the line from the intake manifold to the brake booster, but I can't help but wonder if there's some kind of connection between cleaning the IAC and this problem appearing right afterwards. Is there anything I might have done or is it perhaps a problem that was there but the faulty IAC was somehow preventing it from happening? I have noticed that the brakes feel stronger since cleaning the IAC, so maybe that's it. How's my reasoning here?

Thanks,

Jeff
