A Belgium Volvo owner that I have been in touch with claims to have a 1969 122 GT. He claims that it is not a 123 GT. It has the GT steering wheel and front seats, but no OD, tach, or other 123 GT standards. The GT emblem on the trunk just has GT and not 123GT. Strange, huh?
Here is a photo of the GT emblem: http://www.brickboard.com/GALLERY/index.htm?js_link=&pix_type=CARS
The chassis # (133941S) tells me that it is a:
1 = limosine
3 = 2 dr
3 = B20B motor
9 = built for export in components & assembled in Belgium or S. Africa
4 = 4 speed transmission without overdrive
1 = left hand drive
S = 1969 model year
He claims that Volvo threw a few 122GT cars together in Belgium with what was left of the 123GT parts as this model was coming to an end by the first part of the 1969 model year.
We know that Volvo today does not know how many 123GT models were produced. Have any of your heard of such a thing as a 122GT?
