Alternator brushes? 200 1988

My battery light's been intermittently on over the last week. I took the car to Sears for battery analysis while I did some other business and they said the battery was good, but that the alternator wasn't charging. I'm surprised because this alternator (remanufactured) was only installed a year or two ago. Is it possible that this "remanufacture" included crappy brushes and I could just replace those and be good to go.
