245 Seatback latch repair 200 1990

My 1990 245 has a broken rear seat latch. This is the latch that lower the seat back. I need to replace it. I got a new latch at the local p-n-p. However, I destroyed that seat to get to the latch. Can I replace the latch without destroying my seatback? Should I just find a new seatback? I appreciate any input.
