new to me 740 turbo with 'issues'

I just bought, though I haven't seen it yet, a 91 740 auto turbo wagon with 103k. It starts most of the time, but will not restart when warm - owner suggested it was the fuel pump relay. Comments?

Will not shift into OD. Is there a common problem that I should go after, or is this a trouble shoot from one end to the other deal?

The car is about 250 miles away. Was going to dolly tow it home. Must be towed with the driveshaft removed - right? Anyone tow with the rear wheels on the dolly? Never tried that myself.

If I had confidence in fixing the issues I'd drive it, but don't want to end up halfway home with some unexplaned problems....
