I have a '88 240 with a m47, 5 speed. I researched the archives this afternoon and a found a wealth of information but still have a few questions. I suspect my pilot/throwout/bearing/bushing (are they all different names for the same part???) is bad. Could a bad one lead to premature (159K) clutch failure (it's slipping bad)? Could it cause shifting issues (popping out of gear)? Is metal shavings and "goo" on the drain plug a sign that it's days are numbered? I did change the fluid after the problems started and it was low. Thanks.
