My '97 V90 I have had for a year now. Before taking it on its first trip abroad last year I changed the radiator. Ever since then I have had a slight coolant loss problem....I've not been able to get to the bottom of it (not a major one....having to top up slightly every 2000 miles) but now I have. While I was underneath the car the other day...I found leaking coolant down the side of the sump...oninvestigation it seems the coolant pipe under the exhaust manifold that goes to the water pump is leaking...possibly rusted through I think. I've bought a new pipe from Volvo and have now got to fit it. I have tried removing the heat shield...but I am struggling....the emissions system pip gets in the way...also will I have to remove the exhaust manifold to change it (I hope not!) and has anyone ever done one themselves and has any advice to offer. Also since the summer finished and the colder weather set in in the UK (since around late October) on reversing off my drive once I stick it in Drive the car has been throwing up the tranmission lights. I have tried topping up the gearbox fluid (was recently changed before the trip abroad), cleaned the 3 connections, tried moving the selector backwards and forwards....but still I get the lights. When I put it in drive after reversing off my drive...then press the accelerater the gearbox seems to miss a beat (sorry for my none technical talking) then throw the light up and go into winter mode. if however some mornings I am unbelievably gentle on the throttle I can avoid the lights coming...however it will not go into third gear as you accelerate.....and instead it will stay in second until you release the accelerater from where it will go into third and the gearbox will work 100% after that....sorry for my essay on this subject but I'm beginning to lose my patience with it!
