Radiator Fan Question 700 1990

Recently acquired a nice 740 for my daughter. I now have this Volvo to maintain in addition to my V90 and other daughter's 87 240. I am gradually going through the 740 bringing it up to a good maintenance level. Just replaced the inside blower motor and charged the AC, now blows real cool.

Question: Should the rad fan come on when AC is in use? I know it should come on when rad temp goes high on a hot day, I have tested this function by shorting out the sensor switch on the rad, so I know the fan is good. But should it come on with the AC or perhaps when the AC high side pressure reaches a certain point?
