Rebuilding power steering pump 700

1990 740 turbo:

I've got a nastied up PS pump. The belt shaft has tons of play and the mounts don't hold it very tightly, allowing it to torque sideways. I could replace the whole pump with a reman'ed unit for 65$ or rebuild what I have for 8$... I haven't ever pulled a belt drive shaft out of anything before (don't even know the proper term).

My question: If the shaft has so much play and the rebuild kit comes with just seals the kit should do me no good. To have that much play, the bearings would have to be shot I read somewhere on here that there are no bearings, just a thick bushing on the inside of the pump shaft.

Also - where are the alleged PS bracket bushings? I can't find them anywhere and it's really aggravating to think I could rebuild the stupid thing and then have it destroy itself in a month.

Any info at all is appreciated.
