Well, there is nothing like a week of sea, sand, shrimp creole, steamed clams, and fried fish to clear the old cobwebs out. I went out to the 88 765 and decided to change the alternator before trying to figure out the start and stall problem. When I put my hand under the intake hose that I borrowed off of the 86 244 (after pulling the turbo off of the 765), I found that the corrugation had split almost all of the way around the bottom of the hose. Out of sight of course! With the hose split, there was no air flow past the AMM, which explains why with that disconnected the car idled fine. Problem solved, and I still have a basket full of good AMMs and ECUs!The next step of the nuetering project is to swap the air intake and battery so it will look like a 940, move the radiator forward, then start fuel consumption testing in Charlotte, NC traffic. My guess is that I will see at least 4 mpg over the turbo (22 mpg) and no spark knock with the low compression.
BTW, the 2 in 1 header system (cut off just before the cat flange) is an exact slip fit into the turbo pipe (cut off just before the cat flange)2 1/8 I.D. into 2 1/8 O.D.
Much thanks for all of the advice.
Regards,
