Tie rod end removal 200 1981

Currently parting out our 1981 245DL and I'm having a little problem separating the outer tie rod ends from the steering arms. When I turn the nut holding the tie rod end stud to the steering arm (spindle, whatever) to loosen it, the tie rod end stud turns along with it. Am I missing something obvious here, or are the tie rods ends broken, etc.?
