Electric cooling fans vs fan clutch 200 1986

I live in Florida where the weather can get really miserable in the summer. I am now using my a/c and will until sometime in October. Presently I have a setup where I have a pusher fan set up to a switch on the dash when I'm sitting in traffic and notice the temp creeping up. Hearing that the fan clutch setup can shorten the life of the waterpump, would it be of any help to remove the fan clutch and fan and install an additional fan in the puller position, but have this one tied into a thermo-switch reading the coolant temp or just tie it into a constant on mode?

Thanks for any suggestions or comments.
