Since I check this site everyday, I thought I'd ask you guys this. Some of you remember that my Mitsubishi's motor has been burning a lot of oil lately. Last Friday, it cratered on the interstate, on my way to my mom's. I had to limp the car to the workshop as it just would not pull above 2000rpms, and was knocking terribly. I had the entire motor rebuilt over the weekend, and it needed new rings, valve seals and the valves grinded. The combustion chamber was a mess, with about half and inch of oil and crud stuck onto the piston top and valves. The cylinder walls were in great shape and needed no honing.

My mechanic suggest that I keep the revs below 2000 for the first 500 miles. Does that sound right? I thought it was closer to 1000 miles, after which the valves need to be readjusted, the heads retorqued, the timing checked, and the oil changed.

Looking forward to your inputs. By the way, I siphoned funds from my "Project 144" account for the rebuilt. I guess I'll have to postpone work on my 144 now. Arrgghhh!!! Yeah I know, should have got that 240 for my daily driver instead of the Mitsu!
