740 high-rev question 700

My '92 740T (Automatic) has a failed overdrive sensor; thus, the car won't shift up from third gear (or whatever gear it is that is just below overdrive). I am wondering whether, until I get it fixed, I can run it on the interstate. At 70mph the tach is around 4500rpm, I think. Will running it at that high rpm for brief (and extended) travel damage the engine? (Car has 136,000 miles).
