power antenna doesn't extend all the way 200 1990

Hi there. Can anyone help me with this problem? We just got a 1990 Volvo 240 sedan and it does have an aftermarket radio, but my problem isn't that the antenna won't go up at all, it is that it only goes up to the first joint. I have pulled and twisted and just can't seem to get the other links to go up. Perhaps I am wrong in assuming there is more than 10 inches to the antenna. Where do I go from here? The radio seems to pick up its signal alright with what I've got, but I would like to see the WHOLE antenna working. Thanks for any help you've got.
