I know little about the 200 series - always drove 700/900 cars, but I have always wanted an older 200 wagon. Hope someone will give me some good info.
I found an 85 240 wagon. Body is almost perfect - paint very chalky and faded - has one round (about 2 1/2") rust spot on the top that has been treated & painted over. Looks like where the paint actually come off. Interior - vinyl seats are really good - ceptin' the drivers has a number of tears. There are a number of other things that need replacing - like the glove box door - door pockets.
The floors seem solid - no rust seen. There may be a bit in front of the drivers seat - as there is a popping under the carpet there. Outside there is no rust - not even under the back glass.
There are three bad AMM's in the back, and the one on the car now is bad. Owner has one coming to replace. Could poor wiring in this model have something to do with AMM's going bad? He has been getting used ones tho - not new.
It cranks, idles, and sounds pretty good. Just can't drive it until the AMM is fixed. WHen you engage the trans - it really is loud from the back. I asked, and was told that some bushings would need to be replaced in the rear end.
Thats pretty much it. 600.00. Good deal, bad deal? I know for a fact that I would pay my shop to do the labor on the back axle.
Thanks for any and all replies.
