Hi Folks.....had my engine (vin 87 B230T) replaced recently. Only difference between old and replacement is the newer engine had an EGR system in which was taken off and all lines blocked/sealed. PROBLEM the replaced engine is having is a misfire at IDOL. The tach will start at 750 then drop to 400 then at times down to 0 and car will stall(won't idol steady at 750) Throttle is clean as a whistle,air control working, TCP also fine, no vacuum leaks as far as I can see. My mechanic brought the #1 piston to TDC by turning the crankshaft and all timing marks lined up. BUT..when car is started timing is way off, and only gets worse upon opening throtle. Distributer has a little side by side play but not much.Car runs pretty smooth at high speed(on hiway), but the idle is got us stumped. Any thoughts ? thanks ............D.S.,,,,,,btw..before engine was dropped in car I had the guy replace the timing belt and rear main seal.
