745 90' Wagon shifting problems - please help

Dear all,

my long long-suffering 745 Volvo (Turbo) has got a problem again:

-the shifter won't shift to P (park).

After running ~20 minutes today, and trying to park, I just could not shift to P... And nothing else went wrong.
Now, engine ignites from R (rear) (surprisingly - not N) only.

My question is what the problem could be (tranny..)?
and is it not too bad to ride the car at least for a couple of days more before a repair can be done?
