Broken belt tensioner & timing belt 900 1995

I thinking about buying a 1995 960 with a broken belt/tensioner pully. I would like to save the car without spending much money. I was told by that the timing belt broke while the car was going about 30 miles per hour and the mechanic thought that it is possible that the damage was relatively minor and the pistons are still workable. Is it feasible that I take the head off and valve assembly from another 960 motor and simply switch the bad head and valves with a working unit?
