We've had a 745T for 9 years and it just crossed 240,000 miles. We've put 110,000 of those miles on it. We are considering replacing it with a V90 or late 960. My question is whether the V90 is as reliable as the 700 series cars as long as the preventative maintenance is done? If I drive a V90 for say 120,000 miles will I expect to repair/replace the rear shocks, AC controller or power seats? I know I'd be looking at belt replacement at least once and maybe twice. What does that cost typically?
Other cars I've considered are the BMW E34 ('89 - '95) 525iT (wagon) and the Saab 9-5 wagon. I like the BMW but it's noticeably smaller than the 960 and was last built in '95. The 9-5t is interesting and newer but I don't know anything about them. Any thoughts? I'm sure most who read this are biased toward the V90 / 960 cars but I'd like to hear why.
