My 92 960 wagon with Automatic Transmission seems to have a Shifting Problem or a lock-up converter problem. Once the vehicle is up to temperature, driving from a stop the trans shifts into and out of 3rd gear (or maybe its the converter) this only happens when accelerating at regular speed or less, it does not happen on a harsh acceleration. It seems like its hunting for a few seconds. It is like it gets to the correct speed to shift into 3rd gear, than once its shifted it wants to go back to 2nd gear than into 3rd gear. It has another symptom as well, when driving in 4th gear with the lock-up applied going down a hill it down shifts to 3rd gear. Have read other postings, and have tried a few things. The speedo is steady, not jumping around at all.
Here is what i have done so far. Have an 93 960 wagon thats basically done, so i have been trying parts from it. Have changed the TPS, and the Trans computer, with no differance. Have contacted Volvo and there are no outstanding campaigns. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I love this car but this problem drives me crazy.
