OD Guru.....are you out there? Having no OD gear woes :-( 200 1986

Hi,
I recently posted that my '86 sedan that wouldn't shift into OD. Two years ago it did the same thing and I repaired the white wire underneath that had cracked insulation that was touching the frame plus I removed and bypassed the relay. About 2 weeks ago, it just went out on my way to work. It did work for 2 shift cycles after taking off from a stop light and went into OD, but after that, it was back to 3rd only. I checked my bypass connection, OK, and found a slight crack in the wire insulation where it exits the shifter housing. I spliced a new wire to the solenoid and it still didn't work. I put power to the positive side of the battery to the solenoid and didn't hear a click. So I bit the bullet and bought a new solenoid and installed it last night. It still won't shift into OD. I faithfully flush the transmission fluid every 25 to 30K miles and just did one about 15K miles ago. If anyone has any suggestions, I could really use some good news and direction.

Thanks for looking.
