Intermittent partial electrical failure 900 1995

This seems to happen on my '95 964 only when I first start it (if it's occurred during operation, I've never noticed).

I'll start the car, and all dashboard switches are inoperative - rear window defogger, fog lamps (front & rear), sunroof. Also the window switches are inoperative, BOTH at the driver's door and at each door. Turn signals are also inoperative.

Headlights are OK.....AC and blower are OK.

They will return within anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes, for no apparent reason. One time when it returned within about 60 seconds, I heard a muffled click under the driver's side of the dash, like a relay kicking in, at the same time everything returned.

Today it happened, I drove 10 minutes, they didn't return. Went into the store, came back out --- everything was fine.

I don't find these all being on the same fuse circuit, so I'm a little baffled. Any ideas would be welcome.
