Do exhaust pipes NEED to be bolted to the transmission?? 700 1986

OK...I did the recommeded switch from ZF to AW tranny..the AW had a bracket that bolts onto the tranny (and I assume the pipe) but the ZF bracket will not fit. Now I am driving around without the pipe bolted to the bracket. Am I going to be surprised down the road?? Is a broken manifold bolt ( of the 3 ) also in my future??
Should I go to the PNP and get another bracket??
HELP!!!
