Earlier vs. Later A/C evaporators

I noticed that the Groton 134a conversion kit comes with an evaporator core. I know the later Volvos came with a different evaporator than the earlier ones. Are there any interchangeability issues with using the later evaporators in older 240's?

Is there much difference between the two styles?

I just pulled mine out and am in the process of replacing the a/c system, but am wondering if it's worth it to change out the evaporator as well.

Thanks!
