spring clip on distributor broken 200

Hello,
I managed to break one of the spring clips that holds the cap on, while r&r-ing my distributor cap this morning. It broke flush to the distributor, with nothing to grab on to... of course.

The end of the clip still in the distributor appears to be peened in place, and I can't remove it. So even if I had a new clip I wouldn't be able to install it (no place to seat it correctly).

Does anyone have experience, or a fix for this?
