Okay, I've been through my post-race checklist (yes... now that you ask, we did win our last outing at Hallett - that's 4 wins in 5 outings this year) and everything is back up to snuff, except...
The aftermarket digital voltmeter on the dash says I'm charging the battery just fine, but the problem is the original dashboard idiot light for the alternator. It is very dimly "on" at idle, and gets brighter and brighter as the engine rpm is increased.
Could someone that actually understands how electrons work please tell me the most likely cause(s) for this situation? After stepping through the checklist, doing a head gasket change, and troubleshooting a fuel injection problem, I'm mentally exhausted. (Plus... it's hotter than you-know-where in the shop, and I'm looking for shortcuts!)
