Precisely why I posted the original question... this does not make sense to me. The voltmeter would indicate we are definitely not running unregulated, peaking out at around 13.5 volts regardless of rpm. I am running an oversize pully on the alternator; it runs approximately the same rpm as the engine. But I would think 6000 alternator rpm would certainly be enough to exhibit an unregulated voltage condition.
Unless maybe... we have two separate failures here.
